HEY—HEY!
Don’t keep walking. Don’t you dare look at your phone like this ain’t for you.
You! Yes, YOU standing there—
this is your wake-up call.
I’m not here to tickle your ears.
I’m here to set something on fire inside you.
Because selfishness—
it ain’t just a bad habit…
it’s a slow poison.
A quiet thief.
It robs your soul blind.
You hear me?
It don’t come dressed like a villain.
It whispers:
“Take care of yourself first.”
“Get yours.”
“You don’t owe nobody nothing.”
Sounds smart, don’t it?
Sounds safe.
But I’m telling you—
it’s a lie dressed in common sense.
Look around!
Families breaking up-why?
Selfishness.
Friendships fading away-why?
Selfishness.
People hurting other people-
You think it’s small?
Harmless?
When you choose “me” over “we”—
when you walk past pain—
when you hoard your time, your kindness—
You build a throne…
and sit on it like a god.
Oh, don’t get quiet now.
This is for YOU.
You ever ignored someone who needed you?
Held back forgiveness just to feel right?
Said, “Not my problem,”
while somebody was drowning?
That’s selfishness.
And it hollows you out.
You grow smaller.
Colder.
Harder.
Your heart—once wide as the sky—
shrinks to the size of your reflection.
Listen—
a soul that only serves itself
is already starving.
The Word says love your neighbor—
but you won’t even look up!
It says give—
but you grip so tight your blessings suffocate!
You think you’re protecting yourself—
but you’re building a cage.
Brick by brick.
Choice by choice.
Until you can’t see anybody else.
And what kind of life is that?
Where nobody matters but you?
Where love has conditions?
That ain’t life—
that’s isolation with decorations.
I’ve seen what happens
when everything runs on “mine.”
Communities crumble.
Trust dies.
Hope dries up.
And we ask, “What went wrong?”
I’ll tell you—
we chose ourselves over each other.
Again.
And again.
But hear me—
this ain’t just warning.
It’s an invitation.
YOU—yeah, you—
Step down from that throne.
Loosen your grip.
Open that locked-up heart.
Choose generosity over greed—
compassion over convenience—
love over ego.
Feed somebody.
Help somebody.
Forgive somebody.
SEE somebody.
And in doing that—
you don’t lose yourself…
YOU FIND YOURSELF.
You weren’t made to live trapped in your own reflection.
You were made to pour out—
to lift up—
to belong to something bigger!
So I’m asking you—no, I’m SHOUTING:
WHO ARE YOU LIVING FOR?
Just you?
Just comfort?
Just gain?
Or something greater?
Don’t walk away unchanged.
Don’t forget.
Let this burn.
Then DO something different.
Give when it costs you.
Love when it’s hard.
Show up when it’s inconvenient.
Break the chain.
BREAK THE SELF.
Because the world don’t need more people thinking only of themselves—
It needs people brave enough to look OUT.
Now go on—
LIVE IT.
