A sermon on greed by street preacher Dan

Written by:

FRIEND, STOP FOR A MOMENT.
I want to ask you a question that will linger long after this street becomes quiet:

WHAT ARE YOU LIVING FOR?
Is it money?
Is it success?

Is it comfort?

Is it security?
Because God, looked directly into the human heart and said, “Watch out!
Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
(Luke 12:15)

That is not a suggestion. That is a warning.

You see, greed is subtle.
It doesn’t always shout.

Sometimes it whispers.

It tells us, “Just a little more.”

A little more money.
A little more status.

A little more comfort.

And before we know it, something else takes the place that belongs to God.

Jesus said,

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.”
(Matthew 6:19)

Let me ask you plainly—

HOW LONG WILL YOUR TREASURES LAST?
Your money cannot stop time.

Your possessions cannot heal your soul.

Your success cannot stand with you when you face eternity.

And Jesus added, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

So I ask you tonight—right here on this street—

WHERE IS YOUR HEART?

Is it tied up in things that will pass away?

Or anchored in something eternal?

The Bible tells us the truth, whether we like it or not: “Whoever loves money never has enough.” (Ecclesiastes 5:10)

Never enough.

Say it with me— NEVER ENOUGH.

More money doesn’t satisfy the soul.

More possessions don’t bring peace.

More greed only deepens the emptiness.

Friend, one day each of us will stand before God—not with our bank accounts, not with our titles, not with our achievements—but with our hearts laid bare.
But listen carefully—this is not a message of despair.

This is a message of hope.
The Bible says, “One gives freely, yet gains more; another withholds and comes to poverty.” (Proverbs 11:24)

Say it with me— GOD’S WAY IS A BETTER WAY.
Generosity frees the heart.

Giving breaks the chains of greed.

Putting God first restores the soul.

And God makes this promise: “Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

So tonight—right here—God is calling you to examine your life.

To loosen your grip.

To turn from what cannot save.
WHO DO YOU TRUST?

Money—or God?
Friend, choose the life of the spirit.

Choose giving and helping others.
