Ode to the Outhouse – my 2nd country rap song

Written by:

Lyrics:

[Intro, Banjo Loop, Southern Beat]
Y’all ready? Colt Ford in the house
Grab a cold one and gather ‘round
This one’s for the little shack that could
Yeah, we talkin’ ‘bout the outhouse, baby

[Verse 1, Spoken Rap]
Down by the creek where the bullfrogs sing
Sits a wooden box that’s the real dang king
No plumbing, no fuss, but it gets me through
A seat with a view and a breeze, too
Country luxury, that’s hillbilly true

[Chorus, Rowdy Country Hook]
Ooh, that outhouse, sittin’ proud and tall
Creaky hinge, no curtain at all
When nature calls, it answers quick
Might be rough, but it sure does stick
Yeah, outhouse pride, that’s my pick

[Verse 2, Fast Rap Flow]
Had my first chew sittin’ in that stall
Scribbled my name right on the wall
Spiders in the corners, air so raw
But man, that spot beats any mall
True backwoods throne, flaws and all

[Chorus, Singalong Hook with Crowd Claps]
Ooh, that outhouse, sittin’ proud and tall
Creaky hinge, no curtain at all
When nature calls, it answers quick
Might be rough, but it sure does stick
Yeah, outhouse pride, that’s my pick

[Bridge, Spoken Word with Acoustic Strum]
It ain’t much, but it’s stood the test
Simple wood and a seat to rest
When the power’s out and the world’s a mess
That little shack still does its best
Outhouse strong, we’re truly blessed

[Chorus, Final Round with Big Fiddle Breakdown]
Ooh, that ouhouse, sittin’ proud and tall
Creaky hinge, no curtain at all
When nature calls, it answers quick
Might be rough, but it sure does stick
Yeah, outhouse pride, that’s my pick

[Outro, Banjo Fade Out]
So tip your hat to that seat out back
It’s been there longer than the railroad track
Where the air’s fresh and the vibe is chill
Ain’t no shame, just country skill
Outhouse anthem—yeah, that’s real

Dan, it would be good to see you perform your new raps!

I had first hand experience with the old outhouse in my earlier years so felt completely in tune with the words.

An elderly member of a writing group I belonged to, who is no longer with us, used to write and perform rap from old nursery rhymes. It made for lots of laughter.
